A Night To Remember has been posted to the coming soon page at Samhain. It’s due out Oct 3rd. I’m really excited about its re-release, because I’ve added an addition 10K so far and changed around some of the dynamics of the story. More scenes with Christy and Jake, I thought they the kid needed a little more face time, and another steamy love scene. Yeah. Graphic sex is always great isn’t it. LOL I’m so excited that I will be getting a new cover for it as well, and I can’t wait to see it. Now that I have a pub to send my contemporaries to I can write more of them. :-) Doesn’t mean I’m giving up the paranormal stuff, but I thought it would be a nice change from what I’ve been doing quite a bit of lately.

Finally….

I finally updated my website. I’ve been trolling around other authors websites lately because I’m going to get my webmistress to redesign my site. Yeah, its time for a new look. I was thinking of going a lighter purple, one that wasn’t so glaring, but changed my mind. You know what? I like green. Green for the money baybee!! Mint green because it’s a lighter happier color, and plus I think I like the color green better than I like purple. Since I have about 18 books now and by the end of the year will have a bout 20 something, I think I need to section off my books to make it easier for readers looking for a specific genre. So far I’ve seen some great sites I’d like and some not so great, but hey what do I know. I’m really excited about the new update. If anyone has any suggestions for what they’d like to see on my site and what would make it easier to navigate, please feel free to email, I would love your suggestions. eve@evevaughn.com

On the writing front I’m finishing up two stories. One is for a new multi-author series coming out with Changeling Press called Rockery Cove. My book is called Seducing Serena and it’s a menage. Three people, no more four person menages for me. That was just a damn headache. Now that Shelby’s story is complete, I’m through with that storyline and those characters. I’m hoping I tied it up nicely enough for the fans of those particular books because…that’s all she wrote. Anyway with Seducing Serena I step into a new arena also. My first m/m/f story. (a woman and two bi-sexual males) Yes, there will be man on man love in this one. To be honest I never thought I’d ever write two men together, but I certainly never minded reading it. For some reason the characters in my head wanted this and I couldn’t write it any other way. I guess I’ll see how that turns out. This is my first, and could be my last, but I hope it turns out well.

The next story I’m finishing up is The Kyriakis Curse. This is a werewolf/shifter story in the same world as the Blood Brothers. It surrounds a family of Greek Shifters. This is the first in what I’m projecting to be a four book series, but I guess you never know. Blood Brothers was only supposed to be four books and right now I’ve already figured there will be at least six before that ends. *sigh* woe is me. *g* Dante Grimaldi makes an appearance in this book and reader will be introduced to the woman I’d like to see him matched with. Her name is Isis, and that’s all I’m saying on that so far. That book will be coming out with Loose-id

Of course I can’t forget to mention The Life and Loves of April Johnson will be out next month at Samhain. For those of you who followed the free story the In Crowd, you finally get to see what happens to April after she calls Marcus. A lot of the high school stuff was cut and woven in the story so it won’t read so much like a YA and a real story. I’m very excited about the release.

Okay, that’s my update for now. I’ll try not to leave it too long in between postings.

I know I promised to keep my blog updated more faithfully..

My favorite Chris was voted off tonight and I’m beside myself. I have no reason to watch. The DH says I should back his choice Taylor Hicks, but no!!! I’m going to be honest and true to my Chris. I suppose if you look on the bright side, Chris doesn’t have to sign the crappy contract they make all the idol winners sign. *WAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH*

I’m so excited to be going to my first Romantic Times conference, where I’ll have my first official book signing. I’m giddy like a little school girl. Not only will I have one book to sign but two. I am in two anthologies for Changeling. It’s the AOEM series, and I’m in volume one(4Play) with Kate Douglas and Alice Gaines, and volume three (4’s Company) with Aubrey Ross and Camille Anthony. It’s such an honor to be published with these ladies because a year and a half ago, I was reading these authors just lucky to breath the same air as them, now I’m in a frikin book with them. *giggles* Oh well, I know it sounds corny, but I have truly been blessed and I have the greatest support system. I have a great readers loop, My husband who gives me a cuddle when I need it, and my mom who reads everything I write and impatiently waits for my next release. I have to say I’m pretty lucky.
I hope I’ll get to meet some of my readers in Daytona at RT. Hope to see some of you there.

I’m not sure if some of you have noticed, but A Night To Remember has been taken off the website, it’s no longer available for sale. I no longer write for Liquid Silver Books and before rumors start flying, it was a business decision on my end pure and simple. The split was amicable, and wish LSB the best in all of their endeavors. They still have a good stables of authors so I’m sure they will do quite well. ANTR will be released with new chapters at my new pub Samhain. I was very impressed with them with what they’ve done in such a short period so far. Now that ANTR is going to be re-released I can start working on the sequel which is Steve and Laura’s story tentatively titled A Dish Best Served Cold. I promise to deliver the heat!!

My Super Sweet 16

I’m sitting at home, the hubby is out doing his thing, and I should be writing, but Ive been fascinated by this show My Super Sweet Sixteen on MTV. If you’re familiar with this show, it’s about really spoiled rich kids getting making their parents spend extravagent amounts of money for sweet sixteen party. These kids are out of control. Out of control!! One girl told her dad, I want to punch you in the face. Another girl told her mom, stop being a bitch, and don’t pretend like its not all about me because it is. Wow. If I would have said that kind of stuff to my parents I probably wouldn’t have teeth, yet I can’t stop watching this show. And you know, as spoiled as these kids are, I don’t blame them, I blame their parents for letting them get away with it. Those are the same kids who will end up putting their parents in a state run nursing home to get their paws on the money that much quicker. But still, I can’t stop watching this show. *sigh*

Dear Ryan,

You may have may think it was fun for you and a bunch of your buddies to get together and hire strippers for the purpose of humiliation and assualt. You may have thought it was funny to send that little email about rounding up more strippers and “killing those bitches and skinning them” You may even get off for what you did or what you allowed your buddies to do, but as you close ranks and keep keep mum about what happened, I want you to know, I’ll never forget you or your face or the things you said in your email. No means no, and everyone deserves dignity, even strippers. They’re human beings with emotions. Imagine if this were to happen to your girlfriend, mother, sister or friend. Stop hiding behind your team and be a man. You had the audacity to appear at a take back the night rally in which you said you don’t condone rape. Well prove it. Come forward with what you know, and apologize for making light of this very disturbing incident. I believe people can change and I hope one day you can look into your heart and truly know feel ashamed and contrite. Until then I pray for you.

Eve

Update: May 5, 2009 I’m updating this post because obviously the accused men were cleared and apparently there are still a lot of people out there on the net who took exception to my original post. My words were harsh but that’s how I felt at the time, and I won’t apologize for them. Rape is never a good thing. I hope the young lady has sought psychological help because she’s in essence ruined some young men’s lives. To the young men in question, I hope they make more responsible choices. As for Ryan, the email thing still bothers me, it shows his lack of respect for women. And I really hope he’s grown up these last three years.

I think one of the best things about writing for my the publishers that I do, is the freedom they give me to create the characters that I want to write. I love writing about women you wouldn’t have traditionally seen on the bookshelves a few years back, i.e. women of color, big beautiful women, women with real life issue, etc. But you know, sometimes I do like writing the traditional heroine as well. I don’t even want to pigeon hole myself as a specific type of author.
I think an author has to write what the story calls for, because when you compromise your vision, you don’t always give your one hundred percent. And at the end of the day, you can’t please everyone so why not please yourself?
I’m working on a story right now of one of my most popular characters. I get emails about him all the time, yet I find myself stalling and putting it off, because frankly, sometimes I find it a little disheartening to be told how I should write this story. I guess eventually, I will have to sit down and force myself to write it, but for now I’d rather put it aside and work on something else.
I was chatting to an aspiring author earlier this week, and she’s working on getting something published and she asked me for advice, I told her, “never stop learning” I think that’s the best advise given to me by a very special person. If you stop learning, readers get bored. Never get so big that you feel you’re above taking suggestion. A New York Times Bestselling Author once told me that she’s still learning. That made a profound impact on me. That was a few years back, but I still take her advice to heart. I’m nowhere near to proficient as I’d like to be, but I’m learning, and will never stop.

I’m so thoroughly addicted to this show, but it’s starting to piss me off. It’s always either a rerun or pre empted. WTF!! Last week was the first new episode in forever and now this week is a re run? Keep it up ABC and you’ll be losing a fan.
