New Years Resolutions

New Years is fast approaching and a bunch of us will be making New Years Resolution of what we plan on doing, how much weight will lose and so forth. Me me me. Well, I think JFK summed it up best when he said “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country. No truer words have been spoken.” Ask yourself what you can do for someone else in 2006. When you give, good things happen. Volunteer your time, work in a soup kitchen, volunteer to read to the elderly, whatever, just do your part. I’ve been working with Big Brothers and Big Sisters in my area for two years now. I’m paid in hugs and love and I think it’s truly taught me the true meaning of joy. Nothing feels better than giving. So while making that New Years Resolution to lose weight or to be nice to your siblings is great, volunteer some of your time. It’s the best gift that you could ever give to yourself.

I totally agree with you. I volunteer at a nursing home for PLWAs (People Living With AIDS) and the joy it brings my heart to provide friendly visits and recreational activities for individuals who cannot function as they used to. Considering the average age of the residents in the nursing home is 46yrs.
We shouldn’t have to wait til the New Year to begin to give back, but its a start.
May the Most High Bless You All this coming New Year.
