An Amazing Experience

Obama

I went to the inauguration on Tuesday and it was a completely amazing experience. Me and my friends went down to the DC area the night before and crashed at my parents house. It was lucky considering every hotel within fifty miles of DC was booked or so it seemed. We woke up at 2:30 in the morning just to catch the train into DC. We were so lucky because my aunt works in one of the building on Pennsylvania Ave right on the parade route. That’s where I was. It was huge party with friends, family and her coworkers. There was food and real toilets!! (I can’t do the port-a-potty thing) We watched the speech on a jumbo screen television and then watched the parade from the balacony. It was so cool. We had a great view. I think the best part of the day was that everyone sensed the history surrounding them and people were a little nicer to each other that day. Smiles were a little bigger, and despite the cold, everyone was a little happier.
I don’t know if Barack Obama being President will suddenly change the world. But I walked away with a sense of hope for the future. He’s one man and he can’t do it alone. But having attended, I think he’s going to get a lot of help. :-D
