Today is the anniversary of when the remaining anti-miscegenation laws in the US were struck down. This couldn’t have happened were it not for Richard and Mildred Loving. They didn’t take their fight all the way to the Supreme Court to simply make a point. They did it because they loved each other. Because of them, we are free today to love who we please.
One of the best things about being able to love who you want to is being able to write about it in a book. As of the 2010 census, there was a 28 % increase in interracial marriages which is roughly 5.4 million couples and that number is steadily growing. As a romance writer, there’s nothing I love more than reading and writing a book featuring couples from different backgrounds. A few weeks ago, there was a campaign that was started called We Need Diverse Books. Well, I’m here to say, the diverse books are already out there and here are a few of my favorites.
This is the book that got me started with my love for multicultural romance. A classic. The Color of Love by Sandra Kitt
This is one of my absolute favorite books. If you love sexy sheikhs check out Delaney’s Desert Sheikh.
If you like your books a lot spicy Marilyn Lee was one of the first multicultural erotic authors I read.
And if you like outside of the box romance, than check out Stephanie Burke
If you enjoy Sci Fi, check out Octavia Butler.
There are so many books that celebrate diversity. They’re just waiting for readers to pick them up and discovers all the fabulous authors who pen these tales. Be sure to visit the rest of the blogs on the loving blog hop today! And please click the link below to enter to win awesome prizes!!!
